|Second Water Trail #236|
Campers early on. No bacon, just oatmeal.
Black Mesa Trail #241
Rarely travel this NW to SE. Prefer ascending but nice for a change. Oatmeal campers at the edge before heading down to Boulder Creek. 0 for 2, no bacon.
Peralta Trail #102
Rarely get onto the northern end of this trail. Absolutely love it every time, spectacular scenery. We decided to check out Piper Spring and found it after almost giving up. Holding on strong to my 5 of 5 rating, this trail is scenic end to end.
Weaver's Needle Crosscut
Been a long time since I've been across this one. We got lucky, perfect puffy clouds were going bonkers on our tour through disneyrock. West to East was just in my scrambling range. Shockingly passed by a young gun slow jogging spur of the moment after he noticed it on his paper map. The route is well cairned compared to a decade ago. A couple areas make you think a few seconds.
Terrapin Trail #234
Virtually snag free. Like this trail but dialing back the love from 4 to 3 stars.
Dutchman Trail #104
Old memories of dragging the final four miles loomed. Wanted to get this NW end of 104 over with early but Bruce talked me out of it. Just okay, still one I avoid. Eons ago, enjoyed this First Water Creek hopscotch on stormy summer evenings. More of a gotta do it to get to the good stuff now.
Needed a good ol' fashion flatish hike to cleanse the AEG soul. Any hike these days without using my face or knees for a third hand is solid in my book.
