Did not miss any flowing water yesterday as it was still frozen in place. Nice views of 4 peaks and the Mazatzals with the snow highlighting the slopes. Still some patchy snow on Superstition Mountain giving a different ambience to the hike. The sun disappeared during this hike making it pretty chilly, brisk wind at the high point led me to take a break below the cliff face, after verifying no one above me. Expected to see a frozen pool below the usual main waterfall but not there , the “ice flow “ to the left was more substantial with icy stalagtites and stalagmites formed at the base of the wall. Amazed how a familiar hike can seem different from the snowfall and it invited frequent stops for picture taking. |
