The new road 626 was closed at the Beeline, one white Jeep Wrangler came and went passing me near the road junction. Saw no other humans except for forest service personnel at the summit, a couple of them working on one of the towers. Saw 2 mule deer and one stellar jay. The road had some short stretches of melting snow and mud as the summit was approached. Didn’t stay at the summit too long found the humming from the towers too annoying. Had a problem with my phone as I was unable to see the screen to operate it , as it turns out it turned the brightness down automatically I concluded with self adjustment from taking the last picture with only snow in it. Finally figured this out when I was inside in dark enough suttounding to see a faint image on the screen . Had planned to take a couple of pictures on the way down but couldn’t. Nice view of 4 peaks and Roosevelt Lake, the views west were a little hazy.Enjoyed being able to descend without the caution usually needed on a steep trail. Also note Slate Creek was running a few inches deep. |
