| no partners | | Arrived to a trailhead with several Superstition Search and Rescue vehicles parked, wondered what was going on. During our hike in we crossed through the area the search team was working to find out they were looking for someone missing since November 6 and the person we talked with asked us to keep our eyes open while in the area.
Since I'm not a fan of hiking along the Salt River to get to the base of Gateway Canyon we took another approach and although a little longer will now be my standard approach. Reaching the entrance to Rhyodacite Canyon we hiked in a short way only to find out we needed to retrace back to start our accent up the right side of the canyon. The climb up was a little steep and loose but not to bad, we just took our time. The last push up was across golden slickrock which was beautiful. Took a few pictures and a short refuel break and then headed back down and made our way across the desert back to the truck. Will be back to check out areas of interest. |
