Took Pyramid to the big wash, then stayed in the wash paralleling Pyramid until we topped out at the Pyramid-National junction. That wash is always fun. It was a little brushier this time, some catclaw, but not too bad. Denny may or may not ever follow me on an off-trail hike again. We bypassed two pouroffs on the left; I could have climbed up the first one, but I’m lazy.

Once up top, we took National west, with a side trip to Goat Hill. Then west to Lost Ranch Mine and down. When we were below the mines, we watched two bikers ride down Lost Mine. From the sounds of it, they were having a ton of fun, and I’m assuming they make that ride a lot—fun to watch. From there, it was a quick walk back to the cars. Despite the abundance of cars parked in the lot, we only saw a few people.
