| partners | | This area is off Christmas Tree Pass near Laughlin, Nevada. The next big drainage to the north is Grapevine Canyon, well-known for its petroglyphs. Oddly, Pipe Springs Canyon, where we started, is not the same as Pipe Spring Canyon, less than 5 miles to the north. Only the difference of an "s" in their names. We hiked that one a couple of weeks ago.
Typical of the Newberry Mountains, we found several interesting granite outcroppings. Although a lot of the hike was easy wash-walking, there were a few dicey sections of climbing.
I almost got a photo of a striped gecko. Close doesn't count, I guess. |

Wildflowers Observation Isolated The big wildflower bloom right now seems to be at a lower elevation. Maybe this area will catch up in a couple of weeks. It was covered in snow during the last storm. |
