| no partners | | This was the first time I've ridden single-track in a while. I did okay, but not great. The trail was washed out from recent storms, and had a whole lot of loose rocks on it. This little old lady (me) had to get off and walk her bike on occasion. I was camped at Desert Tortoise campground. After riding past the junction with the Maricopa Trail a short distance, I turned around and rode back to my campsite via the paved service road, which is not open to visitors. I was stopped by a park employee. She wanted to know what I was doing. I told her the Beardsley Trail was pretty washed out, and I pointed at the big, black rain cloud hovering over the area. I told her I wanted to get back to my campsite as soon as possible due to the rain and lightning. She allowed me to continue on the road.
I had been at Lake Pleasant for a three-day/two-night kayak touring trip, over to Humbug Bay and up the Agua Fria arm, where we saw an eagle on its nest. Camped at the end of Humbug Bay and Tule Bay, and hiked to Indian Mesa. Maybe that's what I should be posting. More interesting than this. [ photoset ] |
