| no partners | | Decided to pretty much take June off for hiking but wanted to get out of the house and didn't want to join the crowds on Lemmon or the Santa Ritas so went to the Dragoons. I did a little over 6 miles RT of this; did not go to mine as had been there via a little walk on the 4wd road a few years ago. Started out at 5:30 at a delightful 58 degrees and finished before 10:00 at 87 degrees. Trail was in the shade most of the way up. Nice light and a nice intimate trail, the West Stronghold has bigger rock formation walls but this trail has pretty vegetation and boulders. Would be nice with water flow after storms. Cicadas and bird calls galore. Explored off trail a bit. The views near the top hazy with smoke and I assume dust and or other pollution. Again would be a great view area in stormy weather. Might be a rerun during the monsoons. |
