Return to an area of several years back, to try to make a connection and finish a canyon corridor as far as I could.
Road in was screwed up pretty bad with winter storms in spots, the Jeep has good stock clearance but I had to get out to roll some rocks around.
Got to parking. The trail had been cleared somewhat, definitely not what I remembered. Hiked down the side canyon I wanted and spent some time at some tumble down ruins we had blown past using this canyon as an exit and it getting dark. Pottery shards, chippings, a couple of unusual worked chert pieces, notched on both ends like a piece to be inserted to keep two strings apart, but prevent them from popping out of the notch.
Found an old Indian trail down in then down canyon; we had not gone past this area years ago. The boring usual, pink granite, water, seeps, big pools. Kinda a pain to try to keep dry but that water was cold.
I finally got tired of the up and over, decided I was too slow and took a high route back, running into a steep spring on a sidehill with a plethora of grape vines to negotiate.

I was shocked to see a quad and a couple on the trail, they seemed equally surprised to see me. That made me think the terminus of the main trail might be in pretty good shape whereas before it was hard to track. Might plan a backpack return in the future.

Car camped in the pines, then drove the main road out and walked down the canyon. Had done this one before too but only a few things seemed familiar and there was a good amount of water, more than before I was sure. Nice early light made for pleasant photography on the pink slickrock.
Back to the Jeep, and out, negotiating the short boulder alley in 4wd and a lot of bouncing around. Then the pleasant uneventful drive home. Unfortunately the really pretty area high sun angle so won't look as beautiful as it was.
