Grace selected Oahu because of her interest in WWII history and Pearl Harbor where it started for the US. Hiking to the top of Diamond Head was on Grace's list of things to do and the first thing we did on day 1. We used Uber for transportation from our rented condo in Waikiki to the trailhead. This was definitely the way to go - no problems with full parking lots and parking lot fees. We used Uber frequently throughout the week and never had to wait longer than about 2 minutes for them to pick us up.
This was a short hike on a mostly paved trail but it's steep in some areas and fully exposed to the sun. There are great views all the way to the top - and lots of people. |
