This hike took advantage of the ranching trail we had found which descended to Turkey Creek from FR609. After using the trail to reach the creek we headed downstream staying above the cliffs that line the creek. The plan was to explore some cliffs we had seen from a distance that appeared to have some possible alcoves for cliff dwellings. Although the alcoves ended up being too small and not deep enough for ancient habitation we did observe remarkable red slick rock beauty in the canyon bottom. So we returned up canyon to our entry point and returned down stream along the creek bottom to get a closer look at what we had observed from above.
