The Trail took off from the parking lot and went up and into forests immediately. Well groomed trail lined with birches, maples, pines and oaks - very pleasant except at times it got stuffy and warm because of lack of breeze. Views of Lake Superior came into view after a little over a mile as we went up. About 3.5-4 miles in we got to Bean Lake. It was indeed shaped like a bean the trail continued on along the east tall bank of the lake and offered a nice overlook of the lake. Soon Bear Lake came into view briefly before the trail descended into the forest again. There’s a spur trail that led to the shore of Bear but we skipped it and climbed up to the overlook for lunch and enjoy the view of both lakes at once. I picked a bunch of fire cherries and wild raspberries. They were all over the place. We then hiked away from Bear Lake and took the other side of the lasso through the forests to get back out to the parking lot. We ran into a few groups during the hike but it wasn’t crowded at all. |
