The pretty but boring looking green hills hide neat little canyons. Topo labeled mine activity near the head of this canyon, I had low expectations as was not a name mine but I had not been there. At first the canyon was rocky, wide and somewhat boring. Spring and water run off made for pools and soon the canyon deepened and larger trees, great grapevines, and some rock walls. It was nice. The rock hopping was tedious but worse was the mine was about 600 feet out of the bottom, and the way up was way steep. Funny note, I did not make it to the marked mine adits, this thing had a huge tailings pile and not even noted on the map! I had to go that one more turn in the canyon bottom---
This area had a bit more items left behind by illegals moving north. Once pretty little side canyon had a beautiful area of large trees and an established camp area, with items not too old left behind. I did not tarry here.
Clouds moved in for some grateful shade and thunder rumbled with light rain; I had been home no more than 30 minutes when the butt kicking storms moved in. |
