The Lookout from Tom's Thumb North

Had a rare weekday off so I headed to Tom's Thumb Trailhead. I have hiked to Tom's Thumb many a time, but never from the North side. So that is what I did. 7:00 am parking lot not busy, I made my way up Tom's Thumb Trail a short distance until I reached the junction for the climber's trails. I continued West and made my way up the mountain; very scenic and quiet this way. Lots of cool rock formations and a cool ridgeline to walk on. You can see Tom's Thumb from a different perspective this way. I made a visit to the Ogre's Den (what's left of it) before visiting the Thumb. Finally, I visited The Lookout for a break and some views. Call me crazy, but I like The Lookout better than the Thumb. I finished the loop taking the regular trail back down. Much more crowded now. One day I will combine Lost Wall Loop and Hog Heaven to make the Ultimate Hog!
