Slow going for me because I am out of condition (especially on the downhill with my old arthritic joints), but I felt good and was pleased to have made it up to the junction with the Crest Trail. All but half a mile was on road, so it was an easy hike. Just what I needed!
After the hike it was time for some more photos of the fall foliage on the drive through Garden Canyon. I got off the base at 4:30 and knew I wanted to kill a little time before heading back to Tucson to avoid rush hour traffic. I thought about having dinner in Sierra Vista, then decided I would head back up 90 to I-10 and stop at Taco Bell. But when I got to Whetstone, I changed my mind and headed over to Sonoita instead. Besides, I like that drive way more than the interstate anytime, even after dark. I have eaten at The Cafe before and it was good, but this time I wanted to try Tia Nita's Cantina, since they got some good reviews for their pizza. I liked the place as soon as I walked in. Sat at the bar and Anita fixed me right up with a Barrio Rojo beer on tap and took my order for a small personal sized pizza. It takes awhile for the food to be prepped, but the pizza was quite good. This is my kind of place, I like it way better than the Copper Brothel across the street. I had a good time visiting with others at the bar, as well as Anita. She's a live wire, that's for sure! Next thing I know it is a bit past 7:30, and I realized I had to go, if I wanted to make it home by 9 to watch "Evil," a new show I like. Made it home with ten minutes to spare. Yup, this turned out to be a mighty fine day! |
