Then back out to the junction and northwest to the turnoff to Aliso Spring, where I hung a right on FR4085. This takes you over the divide and drops you down into Fish Canyon, passing Snyder Mine on the way, which was a main player in the area back in the day. I then drove northwest in Fish Canyon on FR4113, which pulls up steeply in places to reach Granite Mountain and FR163. Then down to the Morning Star Mine and FR165, which I followed around the bypass of Greaterville (off limits) to FR229, then down to Box Canyon Road, and home by way of Green Valley and I-19.
I hadn't been on some of these roads in 15 to 20 years, so that was fun. I visited the Greaterville and Fish Canyon area more back between 1990-1994, when I got bitten by the gold bug and was doing some recreational prospecting. There are still lots of active claims in the area, as it is a good place to find some gold.
