| no partners | | Hiking in McDowell Sonoran Preserve on the weekend? Risky. Might run into lots of folks.
Decided to take a chance, figured we may be able to avoid crowds by doing a hike that doesn't go up the mountains, and the fact that we start break of dawn. For the most part this worked out pretty well, we didn't run into anyone on the trail until we were well on our way back.
We had hiked the Romero Canyon a couple of days prior going up to Romero pass, this was a grueling hike, so I thought a relatively flat short hike would be in order. Combined [Marcus Landslide] along with a section of [Pemberton] and section of [Rock Knob] and [Boulder] to make a 6.7 mile loop trail. GPS route has been uploaded if you want to check it out.
This was actually a really nice hike. A nice casual hike with some really good views. Great sunrise, this time of year is great for that with the common clouds (Terrible for Astronomy). I don't think I would do this hike in the summer, it's completely exposed.
