Took off on foot from the house and followed the orange ribbons up to the top. Talked to a trail worker and was told the trail should be completed in 2-3 weeks up to the saddle. I took my time going up and enjoyed the scenery and all the peculiar rock formations in the wash and on the slopes. There was plenty of rocks to climb and to sit on- and I took advantage to sit on every one. In fact I sat so long that the birds began to circle!! Got to Bursera and saw one couple coming up the hill from the west. We talked for a while and I saw only one more hiker the rest of the day. That surprised me because I noticed on the way up that the Pyramid TH parking lot was packed to the point cars were parked on Chandler Blvd. I noticed some kitty paw prints on the way up and lots of scat on National west. Stood and watched a coyote for about ten minutes forge for food on a summit across from me. Was gone 5 hrs but was actually moving 4 hrs. Yeah!! I took my time!! Went home thru the million $ homes. Great day and great hike!! HAPPY HIKING!! |
