| no partners | | It was 53 degrees and cloudy when I started. I was in the clouds, I’ve been told that many times , half way up the trail. Got some good pics. By the time I got to the lookout, visibility was about 75 ft. The wind was blowing and it got colder. Not knowing if a storm was blowing in because I couldn't see anything, , I kept on heading up the trail. When I got to National its was colder as the wind was blowing harder. I figured that a storm wasn’t anytime soon so I made good time, for me, to Goat Hill since I didn't stop for any views that weren't there. I DID stop to look and listen to... NOTHING!!! IT WAS GREAT!! On top of the hill I could see about 100ft in all directions. You talk about seclusion this was it. Like the song says, Alll By Myself. It started to clear up where the National met the Pyramid Trail. I ran into two hikers coming down Telegraph in the early hours and they warned me of the slippery rocks. After that I didn't see anyone until I got back to the lookout where I took off a layer of clothes. The trailhead parking lot was full as my truck was one of three cars in the lot when I started. I stopped at the Bursera trailhead to change my shoes and ended up having a nice visit with LindaAnn. It was a great day for a hike!! But then again they alllll are!!! |
