Quick trip up to the "bowl" via an odd route of shortcuts & detours to avoid the large groups of bikers and hikers... I guess we should have been out before sunrise.
Hoped to catch site of a javelina or two near a few of their known dens but no luck today... the only javelina we encountered was the road-killed juvenile on the highway adjacent to the Granite Reef Rec site.
Up at the bowl we watched a black vulture which appeared first to be yawning, then later trying to scratch an itch that wouldn't go away under on wing... maybe an insect bite? Funny enough, it was chased away by a hummingbird.
