The Discovery Center was closed but first federal park since COVID-19 I’ve been to with open pit toilets Ideal temperatures, 70’s , the entire time. Parked and started by crossing the Potomac River on the low bridge going up Roy Gap Road it appeared it was recently breached , the river was running a little high but not flooding. On the drive in I saw a small deer herd standing in the river saw none while hiking. Tried to maintain a good pace for workout purposes 30 minutes from the river to the observation deck. Extended the hike on the old road coming up from Yokum stables then hopped on the ridge above it for some limited views of the pastoral sites below. Finished with a loop by the old Sites homestead and Discovery Center, didn’t get the best pictures of Seneca Rocks due to am sun position. |
