Trying out a new pair of Solomon’s X Low GTX shoes ,I liked the old one’s but were due for replacement, so planned on a short hike, started early enough to have shade on the way up. Only saw 3 other hikers by time I reached the basin, of course the waterfall was bone dry. On the way down ran across Ray Houston and his former Marine Corps buddy on their way up. Since I didn’t make it up to Flat Iron and the shoes were performing well decided to use Crosscut trail and Prospector trail to get some extra mileage. Saw about a half dozen hikers on Treasure Loop on the way back to the parking lot.
