Beautiful Creek, nice Trail. I would have done the 7 Miles in good weather and with a shuttle. The Publication I picked up says this Trail is "Greer's claim to fame" and is known as "The Trail at the End of the Road". Fishermen use it and it ends at Sheep's Crossing. Worth doing the whole thing in my opinion. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll hike this one in it's entirety and get a route for a page here. According to a resident, Government Springs is actually the Headwaters of the LCR. And there were numerous other springs along the way, so not sure about that. Pretty good flow upstream from the Governor's Spring.
Talked to some Fishermen when I got back and they had had some luck earlier in the day, showing me their catch. Made me wish I had brought my gear. By the time I left the parking lot, the heavens opened up and it rained very hard for a long time. It eased up just enough for me to make dinner and then started right back up again, lasting into the night.
I'll be back for this one. |
