[ Black River 628A - 630 Loop ] Well, the original West Fork Trail was in good shape even though the FS stated that it was unmaintained. Only 1 deadfall on the whole stretch. As far as the loop went, I gave up on finding a clockwise Trail after about 15 minutes of bushwacking. The skies were darkening, so I returned back to the TH with just a few minutes to spare before the rain hit.
The Meadow is going to be really nice someday with all the Aspen coming in. I imagine in a good Wildflower year, it's probably pretty sweet. Just not this year. Saw 2 Coyotes and a few birds. Some of the trail is still through some nice forest. There are definitely some unnamed Springs down towards the bottom, by the river. Met a crazy mountain biker that made it all the way down. Some of that Trail would be nuts on a bike, but he did it. Met more people going back out, I think some of them probably got a bit wet with their later starts.
It was a good trek and I might return in a good wildflower year. |
