Last Day of my White Mountain Trip. Wanted something short, then I was going back to camp to pack up and head for the valley. I had 3 options, but when Liz told me she was staying nearby, I picked this one, since she was the Author and also looking for something quick. And it was halfway between us.

More formidable looking than Peak 9947 and seemed harder to get up. I've been slacking on hard hikes lately and it showed. More out of breath than I should have been. We went up following Liz's original route, so the first part was off trail. In what seemed like forever, we hit the road and finished going up on it. We hit the high point first and enjoyed the views with a snack. Lots of butterflies up there and the views were pretty spectacular despite the haze that never seemed to go away all week. There is a register up there as well.

After the break, we went over to the abandoned communication towers and poked around. Liz thought at one time there was a trailer up there, but initially we just found some debris. I looked over the edge and found the trailer half intact on the slope. Must have been some wind. Might have been one helluva ride. :o After being gaped at by a reptile, we headed down and followed the road all the way down and back to the vehicle. We just drove the truck in to the corrals since the road was heavily rutted in that section.

Good Hike, definitely worth the views in my opinion. Glad to see Liz again, it's been awhile! Thanks Liz!

P.S. On the way back to camp, Liz calls me and tells me to turn around. Less than a mile from our hike turnoff going towards Eagar, Liz spotted a herd that we had discussed on our hike. Needless to say, I turned around! Thanks again Liz!
