Day 4 of 4 Day Camping Trip.
Still chasing Fall Colors and thought I would see what Weatherford Canyon had to offer. I drove the entirety of Shultz Pass Road for the first time. Interesting road, too bad there's so much burn. I got a later start on the Hike itself due to all the bird action at Schultz Tank. If it hadn't been for that, I might have tried for Fremont Saddle. I went up quite a ways past the use trail, almost to the start of the switchbacks, but time wasn't on my side and I didn't want to start them and not get to the saddle itself. There was a little gold along the way, but Weatherford Canyon up high was still all green. That changed as I approached it down low on the use trail. Probably the most color I'd walked through on this trip. Spent some time with the Camera of course and then continued on down back to the truck. I decided to head on home a day early, as Autumn just wasn't as far along as I wanted it to be.

On a side note, I got to witness some karma on the Weatherford Trail, well inside the Wilderness Boundary. I got passed by a guy on a MTB and he was hauling ass up the hill. I didn't think MTBs were allowed in the Wilderness. I ran into another Hiker and he informed me that they were not and that he had read the Biker the riot act up near the saddle. I didn't see the Biker again for a long time and thought maybe he went down a different way. But nope, he finally showed up walking his bike. I thought at first it was because of the other Hiker telling him it was illegal, but actually, it was because he suffered a flat rear tire and didn't have a spare. Good thing he didn't go 20 miles in.

Will pick up the Color Chase again soon.

Some Gold on way up to Kachina Wilderness. Some Gold on use trail, more than I've seen elsewhere. But Weatherford Canyon as a whole was still green.
