Another Successful New Year's Day in the Books. It couldn't have been a more perfect day with perfect friends. Warmer than forecasted and we left the pollution zone of the city behind us, leaving nothing but perfect views of the Goldfields, Supes and Four Peaks.

I picked this Hike due to several reasons, mostly personal, but it's been a "default" New Year's Day Hike on my list for several years. I wanted to save this Hike for bad weather or in case I wasn't physically up for something harder. The latter would be the case this year. I haven't been able to get out and do much Hiking since September and my right knee has been giving me a fit since the weather turned cold. I haven't had a pain free hike since October. I also injured my right arm at the Gym, so I have trouble lifting much weight. In short, I'm a mess and overweight to boot. So I picked something easy this year. But the Reward of the Views is huge, so I knew it would be a good party anyway.

We had 3 new Participants this Year. It was awesome to see Wally and get him out of his comfort zone in the Supes. And thanks to his Grandson, Gavin, Owen would join us this year for the first time. He and his Grandson started an hour earlier and met us at the top. It was Amazing and Wonderful. Great to see you again Owen and a big hug to Gavin for helping you join the Party! And you made amazing time going down, I didn't catch you until you were at your car! So cool that you could make this Hike!

Considering that the Hike wasn't terribly strenuous, 8 of us managed to down 3 bottles of bubbly in record time and we left the top with 4 empty bottles and all empty containers. We sure enjoyed Owen's stories up top as well. It was a great party with great views and great hopes for a better year. It certainly started off nicely for sure. Thank You to everyone for joining me this time around and for helping haul up the goodies! Special Thanks to Ray for Bartending and Larry for being the Official Group Photographer this year. The Help is always appreciated. :)

After we got down to the Vehicles again, I decided to join the group going for the Horns of Dilemma. My knee was acting up some, but I decided to try it. I stopped about halfway and let the others keep going. The knee and the legs were done and I was overdressed for what turned out to be a warm day. I waited at the halfway point for awhile, just enjoying being out and then returned to the truck. The rest of the Horns party arrived back about 30 minutes later.

A really good start for a brand new year. I couldn't have asked for anything more than the company of great people and friends in the great Outdoors.
