Then I crossed the creek and had only cairns for a bit and unfortunately, there's cairns that go high and cairns that stay low longer. I went high and ended up off-track so I backtracked not knowing where those cairns were actually taking me. Made the saddle overlooking First Water Creek, at the same time intersecting a high cairned route. No Water in First Water Creek that I could see, just sand and white bedrock.
Took a cairned route off the saddle, traversing around 2980 and then lost the cairns and some semblance of trail, so bushwacked a bit up until I started running into them again. They finally took me up the Peak of 2980. I took a break there admiring all the views and then descended and went up Little Four Peaks. Hit the little Peak on the right of the saddle and then the bigger peak left of the saddle. The next Peak over was way beyond my skill set so I stopped there. Descended back down and did the loop portion back to the road and the truck.
Nice Hike and great views on a nice day. |
