I did Airmen a few weeks ago - There was a note in the register about a cool chimney route up pk 5968. Did a little reseach and found it's called Molino Thimble. Since it was either 4th or 5th class i decided to bring a short rope and a little gear.

Approached Airmen via West fork of Molino. That fork of Molino was super fun. Would like to see it flowing. Found the "caving" route up Airmen - fun squeeze chimey to gain the Northeast Ridge. Nice break on Airmen and headed to the Thimble. Found the Chimney on the east side. Didn't look too bad. Was a little tricky getting up into it but then we walked back awaze. Shelley stuck her head in the back and thought it was too tight. So we looked at Chimneying straight up for a bout 10 feet or so. I attempted it and didn't like it. Thought I'd check out the south face. It looked pretty easy from Molino. I found a pretty easy scramble on that side and soon came to a 15 foot wall - right above the chimney we were just in. The wall looked to be pretty easy. Low 5th class but really exposed where it was easy but high consequence if a fall occured. I trailed the rope and worked my way up. I paused about halfway up. Got to a spot where i was about 6 inches away from a good hold and started to get serious elvis leg. Finally found a good foot and was able to step up and grab the hold. Whew. Pulled myself the rest of the way up, built an anchor and belayed Shelley up. The rest was cake. Saw a couple other chimmey systemson the way up(maybe one was the key to the summit). Made our way back to the 5th class wall. We rappelled it. Then deciced to check out the chimney. Shelly found that the spot she thought was too tight actually went. Went down that way and were soon at the base. Made quick work of the descent back to the car.
After reading up on the peak after getting home I'm convienced we got off route and there's a section of chimney we missed that would avoid the 5th class wall I climbed. Need to go back!
