The trail follows an old track along the fence line for about 4/10ths of a mile. You then see another wire cairn and go through another barb-wire gate at the top of a draw. The "trail" has so little use that it is more like a deer track, but you can make your way down very easily. I took one way down, staying on a trail to the left, but took another path up. This canyon is overgrown with willows, oak, thorny locust, grape vines, and grass. You can tell that huge amounts of water come through here at times--boulders are everywhere. I hiked down to the arch, then to the "cave", just to check it out. I need to come back when the leaves change (and there aren't monsoon clouds and humidity). |
