I met Preston( it’s been too long) at 8am at the Tortolitas. First time hiking in the area . Nice area. Doesn’t feel like you’re so close to the city. The trails are marked and Preston grabbed a map for backup. Some nice ranching history in the area and lots of nice cacti and other vegetation. Throw in some nice rock formations and it made for a nice hike. I spotted a few Javelina a few miles in and pointed them out on the next mountain to Preston. Not to be outdone when we missed a turn towards the end of our hike Preston took us down a wash and pointed out a dozen Javelina.

. So close we had to detour around them. Didn’t want to upset mom with some reds there. Afterwards I joined Preston for some Mexican food from one of his local hangouts where everyone knows his name.
