We parked one car at the Watershed Trailhead, then drove to the White Spar Campground parking lot. It's a well maintained trail, though there are many unmarked junctions, which would make taking a wrong turn easy, but not catastrophic. There was a little snow and ice on the trail, but rarely enough to cause a slip. It's a nice surroundings pretty much the whole way, not very many of those big sweeping views I'm getting used to up here, but still very nice. I think this would be a good one in the summer, there seemed to be more shade than most of the trails. From where this trail approaches the lake it looks like about half of it is frozen, but as we went around it, it seemed less. We stopped for lunch before we finished the first mile, sitting on a log. I had finished my burrito before I noticed some kind of furry carcass about 12 inches from my foot! I think it might be a piece of a deer, seemed like the fur was too coarse for a rabbit, maybe somebody has another guess. |
