| no partners | | Up Marco De Niza was a good test for my new hiking boots. If they can take the rocks on this hike they can do almost any trail. They passed the test. The first pair of hiking boots I have gotten that haven’t caused blisters the first time out. I think it is because of the socks made for hiking. I’m happy!! The Phoenix Police Dept. had a bike-a-thon. About 100 bikers took off on National about the same time I was climbing
Up the mountain. Few other hikers, most had dogs. Nice cloud cover, 55 degrees when I started and was thinking I might see a great sunrise....didn’t happen!! But the moon looked huge as it was full. Considered a night hike the night before because of the bright moon but....it didn’t happen!!! Went about a third of the way on Midlife trail but decided to backtrack and descend down on the rock buildings at the end of the service road. Some STUPID people marked up some stones at the buildings. ( photoset) They need to be banned from the trails!! Had a nice talk with a fellow Californian from the Bay Area, started talking to me because he saw my SF Giants shirt. We did a little Ca. Bashing but not to bad! Lot was full when I got back. There were cars circling to get my spot when I left. Don’t know what route the PD bikers took but they had a motorcycle escort and They were in the parking lot at Bashas on 48th St when I went by. Great day for a hike!! HAPPY HIKING!! |
