| no partners | | Up Marcos De Niza and Guadalupe Ridge, then down into the east end of Hidden Valley. Down Mormon Loop, then Ridgeline. Got onto the "new" Beacon Hill trail and followed it all the way east, then Pima Canyon Loop back to the trailhead.
The park is ridiculous with some of these trails. They take well known, unofficial trails, move a few rocks, slap a few signs on them with a random new name, then pat themselves on the back and try to make you think they gave you a new trail. Meanwhile, they block off a few of the other unofficial trails in the same area. Uhhh, no, I'm not excited about the "new" trail since you took other good ones away. OR...they create an entirely new trail, but never sign it or label it as a trail. Given all their whining about people hiking off trail, it makes no sense to expect people to know that it's okay to hike on this new unmarked trail, but not an old unmarked trail. If you're not familiar with the trails, how the heck are you supposed to know which ones are okay and which ones aren't??? My new policy is to hike wherever the heck I want as long as there is not an obvious area closed sign. If a ranger says something, I'll pretend like it's my first hike ever.
Not a whole lot of people out. Warm temps. I hope spring isn't already here. |
