Despite the lengthy forest road involved, it’s in perfect shape for any vehicle, and a gorgeous drive. We got started hiking a little after 1030. The uphill starts immediately, and is quite steep. The deadfall began almost right away, and I’d guess there’s about 20% more than there was a couple of years ago. There’s just enough to be annoying.
Nice weather though, cloudy and cool, temp hovered around 50 the entire hike. Lots of evidence of deer and elk, but we didn’t see any. Took a ten minute break at the summit, then headed back down. Not much faster on the descent, thanks to all the trees to climb over. Still a nice hike, but it would be better with a little trail maintenance. |
