| no partners | | | A short afternoon hike with my Grandson to explore one of the climber's access trails out of the Tom's Thumb Trailhead in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. This less travelled trail takes you through a particularly scenic area of the McDowell Mountains passing several rock climber destinations including Morrell's Parking, Girlie Man and Sven Tower III on its way to Hog Heaven. We turned around about a half mile short of Hog Heaven. Based on others' triplogs, that final section of the trail up to HH is steep requiring some scrambling through brush and over boulders which I had neither the time or inclination to do on this day.
