Locked bike on the fence and headed down to river, took minutes to inflate the packraft, and immediately dropped my phone during launch, so guess I'm a pro now.
Packrafting was fun - got a Kokopelli Rouge-Lite. Saw horses within the first mile. Friendly folks on the river, questionable folks on the shoreline. Only dragged bottom once near Coon Bluff. I'm a tall glass of water, so fitting in any sort of watercraft is hard. Drifting down the river wasn't bad, paddling across the flat water was awkward, so maybe next time I'll extract at Phon D. Also need to figure out a better pack attachment if things get more serious... Plan is to use the Salt to practice and work up to a Verde River & Trail adventure over the summer. After getting splashed by fish in Granite I headed out, picking up donuts for the family on the way home. |
