Most of the hike was a road walk on a gated, closed-to-vehicles forest road, but the last 1.5 miles or so to the summit was hiking through open country. There was pinyon pine and juniper on the way up, but once you got up on the large summit plateau there was mostly grass and some sagebrush, with nothing more than knee high. The summit plateau is rather large -- probably 2 miles by 3 miles.
Being a road walk, this wasn't the most exciting hike ever, but there were some good views in places of the Flaming Gorge NRA, and there were some nice views of the Uintas and other mountains in the distance. |
