We hiked a mile over to the creek to cross over into the CCRP to do our planned 7-8 mile loop and take some poppy photos. The creek was a fast moving torent when we arrived and a half dozen mountain bikers were trying to find a way across. They gave up and turned around as did another couple of hikers. We went downstream to look for a crossing point but the water was just way too fast and deep. I can only imagine what it's like closer to 6L ranch and Seven Springs.

We came up with a quick Plan B and backtracked up to the Louis Menk Overlook Trail and then did a CW loop through the Surrey Hills saddle and back around to the P.A. Seitts TH where we had parked. We didn't get the mileage we wanted but saw plenty of flowers and a family of six whitetail deer which was a big bonus. :)

Lots of blooms yet to come. Many brittlebush. lupine, poppies, fiddleneck, and scorpionweed already started.

Too high of CFM to cross without getting soaked and possible knocked over. Farther north it must be a beast!
