linda suggested picacho as a back up plan to a longer hike
i haven't done this hike since 2012 so it sounded just fine
we got going around 0800
cool temps, nice breeze
a lot of elevation gain in a short distance
up to the saddle, then dropping a bit
shade on the west side
a few little scrambles, some assisted by the cables
we saw several hikers coming down from the summit, and ended up having it to ourselves
we checked out the western part of the summit ridge, which i hadn't done before
made our way down without seeing anyone else
it's a fun hike, nice to be up there again
