Here's another lake which usually is just a damp patch or collection of puddles in the middle of a dry meadow. But right now it's a real lake! We had it to ourselves on Thursday. Judging by the appearance of the shoreline, it could actually hold more water. Maybe if we have a second really snowy winter it will fill up all the way?

I brought my folding boat, an Oru Coast XT. It's much easier to transport than my sea kayak, when I'm going with a friend.

We saw some birds: coots of course, plus mallard ducks and eared grebes, who were busy airing their grebances. The rest of us were having fun...
