1st trip
Last week while hiking to Roger's Rock, I continued on past Roger's Rock uphill along what appeared to be a fairly good trail. The trail was rather steep heading straight up the ridge. Not knowing were it went I eventually turned around and headed back down the ridge. Found out later that the trail connects up with the four Springs Trail. With a break in the hot weather I decided to finish up that section of trail.

I started at the Bog Spring trail head around 0600 and took the Bog Spring Trail to Kent Spring, then on the Four Springs Trail. (Still can't get four springs along that trail, Sylvester Spring, Kent Spring and Armour Spring makes three, what is the fourth.) From the Four Springs trail I took what I am calling the Roger's Rock Ridge Trail down to the Pipeline Trail. I took the Pipeline Trail South (upstream) to the Baldy Super Trail and returned to Bog Spring Trail Head via the Madera Nature Trail. Bog Spring and Four Spring trails climb pretty steadily to the Rodger's Rock Ridge, from there it is pretty much downhill back to the Trail Head.

Bog Spring still had water in the trough along with abandon sleeping bags, packs and food containers and trash left by illegals. Didn't look real recent though. Kent Spring Trough was dry (don't know if I have ever seen water in it) but the stream nearby was running pretty good. The Roger's Rock Ridge Trail Was easy to locate along the Four Springs Trail and exits north right where the Four Springs trail crosses the ridge. Still not sure if I would rather go up or down this trail, going up is a workout but going down is harder on the knees and higher risk of injury. The stream at the junction of the Roger's Rock and Pipeline Trail was still running where the trail crosses the creek. The rest of the hike back to the trail head was pretty uneventful and was finished by 1030 with the temperature still in the low 80's. There was a pretty strong breeze from the Southwest most of the morning, felt a bit cold in the darker canyons in the morning but later in the day felt pretty good.
