Checked out 2 waterfalls during our annual family get-together in Wisconsin. The first was Willow River Falls near the Wisconsin/Minnesota border. There's a $10 fee to enter the state park and a large parking lot. It was 75° and humid. The "trail" to the falls was an easy walk on an asphalt (and part gravel) road, with a 200 foot elevation drop over a half mile to reach the falls. The falls are over 100 feet wide and consist of 4 drops, the largest one approximately 15 feet high. They were very impressive and powerful, better than expected. However, it was very crowded. We walked and climbed around in the falls for a while. It was generally about 1-4 feet deep, and the water was chilly, but it felt nice on a warm, humid day. The bottom was rocky and very slippery. Then a nice half mile walk back to the parking lot, reinvigorated after splashing around in the falls. Total 1.32 miles, including walking around and through the falls. One nice thing compared to Arizona is that despite over 100 people present, there was no litter to be seen. Everyone seemed conscientious about packing out.

Next was Lost Creek Falls. This is just 10 miles south of Lake Superior, and the drive there provides numerous views of Lake Superior. Everyone went on this one, from my 72-year-old parents to my 6-year-old niece. The parking lot has room for maybe 10 cars. It's a nice, pleasant dirt trail through the thick green forest with a steady descent, a few wooden bridges over the washes, and numerous birds. Other reports stated that the mosquitoes are miserable here, but we didn't see or hear any. The falls were nice and pleasant. We stayed for a while, played, and climbed around. We were the only ones there for about 40 minutes, but then other people began to arrive. We followed the signs up another trail to the "picnic area", which consisted of one picnic table in a tight space, surrounded by trees, with no views. Another trail led uphill from the picnic area to a snowmobile / ATV trail that wasn't on my map, so we headed back down and followed the same trail back to the parking lot. A nice day and great to experience it with the whole family.
