We drove through a couple heavy monsoons on the way, but it was dry at the trail with cloudy skies, 80° temps, moderate humidity, and a light- moderate breeze. The parking lot was full. Tonto Creek had normal flow.
Horton Creek was dry for the first half mile, but then had water the rest of the way. All of the cascades / falls were pleasant, so we stopped and took pictures at each one. We got to the Highline Trail, then headed back. There were a lot of people along the way, on the trail, in the creek, and at some of the falls. There was also quite a bit of trash on the trail, in the creek, and in the parking lot. It was disgusting. I'm fine with people enjoying this beautiful area, but it's not your personal garbage dump. Stay the pumpkin out if you're too lazy to pick up and pack out your trash. On the way back, we saw a nice rainbow.
Edit: I didn't know that HikeArizona automatically changes a certain 4-letter word to "tarzan swing". Nice feature. |
