Trail starts at the Camino Loma Alta Trail Head and ends on a ridge overlooking a creek that drains a portion of the south side of Tanque Verde Ridge. We returned via a route to the west and back to the trail head. Saw one tortoise that had a bad day probably a year ago, only it's shell and some dried out parts. Also saw one tarantula and something I have never seen in the wild, a Tiger Rattle snake. In a rocky stream bed, barely noticed it because it was just past sundown, Good thing it rattled. They do have a small head. We took a few pictures and thanked it for warning us with a rattle, then went on our way. Nice short hike to kind of work out the kinks from our Lemmon Creek hike last Saturday. |
