On our second day in Flagstaff we headed to the Kachina Trail on the south side of the San Francisco Peaks. This is another great fall hike. Very few people at the trail head. This is a pleasant walk through Pine, fir and aspen forests broken up with grassy meadows. Great views to the south. The aspen trees were in full color. This hike was 10.3 miles round trip and even though I consider this a fairly level hike it does have a lot of little ups and downs, enough to give you about 1700 feet of accumulated elevation gain.

The trail was in good condition and easy to follow, there was no water along the trail in any of the creeks but this is typical except in spring when the snow is melting.
