| partners | | Just one other car at the trailhead when we arrived at 0900, occupied by a weird, shirtless guy who strangely decided to stand outside the restroom door while I was in there and tell me that “you and your friend are going to be all alone on the mountain today.” I told him I didn’t care, and that he’d better not be anywhere near that restroom door when I opened it. He then decided to go tell Daniela that same thing about being alone on the hike. She was also less than friendly with her response.
Muggy but overcast to start. When there was a breeze, it felt great, but the air was mostly stagnant. Sweatfest going uphill. Some new cairns and fresh arrows marking the route, which is unnecessary since it’s pretty worn in at this point. Seems like the steep section above the chute is getting more eroded. Saw about three billion ants, a thousand lizards, two millipedes, and six bighorn sheep while we were standing at the summit.
Descent was uneventful, mostly just trying to not fall. Very warm for the last mile or so. The shirtless weirdo was correct, nobody else all day, and luckily he was gone when we finished. |
