| no partners | | | My first time up Picketpost… what a pleasant surprise! I didn’t realize what a climb this would be… a good bit of climbing/clambering up rocks on all fours during last mile. Unfortunately, Trail finding gets a bit challenging during this last mile as well. Even worse is the graffiti (white and red arrows painted on rocks) by somebody very ignorant of basic LNT principles… painful to see. Fortunately, the views are spectacular by the time you summit, well worth the effort. Careful on the way back down, I found the trail finding more challenging (OK, ok… I lost the trail) heading back. Terrain is very steep and I went down on my pumpkin in several places… definitely take your time on way back down. Weather was great… parking lot was about a quarter full when I got there at 7:30am. I’ll definitely be returning to do this one again! |
