| partners | | I had not hiked up to Dome Mountain in 3 years, so I decided to go out there today. On the way back we checked out Elliptical Arch. I had seen the arch before from a distance, but never climbed into it until today.
I parked at the Bulldog Canyon Wolverine Gate. In years past, I would get a pass and drive closer to where I wanted to hike. They have now raised the fees for a pass, and it didn't seem worth it to get a pass for just going there one time. On the plus side, raising the fees seems to have sent the squatters elsewhere.
The trail up to Dome Mountain is much more defined than in years past, and is now easy to follow. That makes the painted lines and cairns along the route totally unnecessary.
The hike up to the summit seemed steeper than I remembered it. The views at the top are still really, really nice though.
We stopped by the arch on the way back, and it was a fun scramble to get up inside the arch.
It was a nice little hike and was a nice day to be out in the Goldfields! |
