| partners | | It had been 3 years since I have hiked to Asbestos Point, so we decided to head out here today. The prior 2 times I was here I hiked to both Asbestos Point and Zimmerman Point, but today we just hiked to Asbestos Point.
There was good water flow in Pocket Creek, which made for an enjoyable hike along the creek for the first and last mile or so. There was barely a trickle of water coming over the big waterfall on the south side of the road.
There was a large tepee-like structure someone had built next to where the gnarly part of the road begins. I have no idea what it was doing there, but nothing really surprises me anymore.
We made our way to Asbestos Point and enjoyed the views up there. It was a bit chilly so I put on a windbreaker at the summit.
On the way back we stopped and looked around a bit inside some of the asbestos mines.
This was an enjoyable hike -- the weather was great and it was nice to see some good water flow in Pocket Creek. |
